Movement is my passion. With movement, you can explore every corner of the human existence. Everything from deep emotional context to lighter tales of adventure can be captured and communicated through creative expression. For me, movement has also been the constant through a journey of self discovery and acceptance. Every time I start to work on a new piece it is the beginning of another exploration, another journey into what it means to be a living human being and an artist.
My current project, Continuing Fluctuations, centers around the emotions and relationships that arise when living with an invisible chronic illness such as Cystic Fibrosis. My hope is to create work that resonates with everyone and helps spread awareness of the truth behind living with chronic illness.
This is the first performance of Avow Your Light as part of NACHMO 2017. This piece has changed a ton since this first presentation and is included in the full performance of Continuing Fluctuations.
This piece was created in January 2016 for a concert I co-produced with Nicole LaLiberte, Past, Forward in Reverse. This performance was part of the NACHMO 2016 dance festival at the Dance Complex in Cambridge, MA. Standing Tall was inspired by the Redwood trees with their branches reaching high into the sky and crossing through time in spite of the changing world around them. I wanted to draw a parallel between the strength I saw in the trees and the same power I see in the women in my life.
